Christmas is on the way and after a year dominated by lockdown supermarket delivery slots are being snapped up.

Tesco, Asda and M&S have already warned about limited slots for Christmas supermarket deliveries, while the likes of Iceland have not yet released their delivery slots.

As many people stay at home demand for deliveries is set to be high so if you are looking for a Christmas food delivery now is the time to act.

We have taken a look at every supermarket in the UK and checked for delivery slots.

Iceland

Iceland is offering free Christmas delivery for any orders over £35. You can order from Monday 14 December up to Friday 18 December here.

Delivery slots are available between 6am and 11pm up to 23 December. However, there is a way to get some money off your Iceland Christmas shop.

M&S

M&S is already warning that due to extremely high demand, there are now limited products and collection slots available. There are still slots but you will have to move quickly.

Slots are available between 22 and 24 December for Christmas and 30 and 31 December for New Year orders. You can also pre-order and pay the balance when you collect in store.

Asda

Asda has opened its delivery and collection slots for Christmas. The store says: 'Slots sell out fast at this busy time so make sure you book as soon as you can. Once slots are gone, they’re gone!'.

Plus if you have a recurring slot you won't be able to use it between December 19 and January 3, so you'll need to book a new slot during that time period. Then your regular slot will restart automatically after January 3.

Tesco

Tesco's website states: 'We're experiencing high demand for slots around Christmas'.

Currently shoppers can book a click & collect slot or a flexi saver delivery slot, due to high demand.

The supermarket has also given shoppers some tips for stress-free ordering including booking your slot and adding only a few items to checkout to give you more time to make your list. Then once you're ready to finish your order just go back and check out again by 11:45pm on the day before your delivery.

If you've forgotten something don't worry because you can also amend your order as many times as you like, just make sure to check out each time you do.

Finally if there's any Festive Food to Order items in your Christmas basket, you'll need to check them out by 11:45pm on December 14. You can still amend other items that aren't part of Festive Food to Order until 11:45pm on the day before your delivery. But you won't be able to amend a Festive Food to Order item unless you want to remove it completely.

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's has opened its delivery and collection slots for December 20-23.

The store is urging customers to plan ahead and beat the rush by securing a slot that's right for them, three weeks in advance.

Then once you've secured a slot you'll need to check out, but you won't be charged for your basket until the day of delivery or collection. You can also amend your basket as many times as you like until 11pm the day before.

Morrisons

Iceland Food Stores

Shoppers can get a Morrisons same-day delivery throughout December when ordering through Amazon.

The two have teamed up ahead of Christmas and you can book a delivery up to 3pm on December 24 - depending on availability.

They will then resume taking orders from 12pm on Christmas Day for grocery essentials from December 26.

The delivery is free for Prime members, so if you're not already a Prime member you can sign up for a free 30-day trial and take advantage of the Morrisons delivery as well as other Prime benefits including TV and film streaming and next-day delivery on thousands of products.

Supermarkets are reporting higher demand for delivery slots as the UK nears the second full weekend of lockdown.

On Thursday 7 January many supermarkets have scrapped delivery passes due to demand but others have increased the number of slots available. Morrison's and Iceland have both confirmed slots are still available for next day delivery and they can be booked now.

If you are looking for a weekend delivery slot today here are you best options to ensure you can get groceries delivered.

Morrison's

Morrison's is still advertising its delivery pass which it says can save up to £167 in delivery charges across 12 months but it is warning of higher demand for slots at the moment.

The supermarket has not reported exceptional demand for delivery slots yet but some customers are reporting a delay of a few days when it comes to finding an open slot.

As demand is expected to increase you can check the Morrison's website for updates and availability. You can also order Morrison's groceries via Amazon, which offers same day delivery slots subject to demand.

Iceland

Iceland says it has thousands of delivery slots available and they are free to book if you order over £35 of goods. You can check if your postcode has slots here.

Iceland offers next day delivery at no extra cost and has not reported on any slots running low on demand. You can book between 8am and 9pm.

Tesco

There are no current issues with Tesco delivery. The store has increased the number of slots it is offering to keep up with demand.

On their website, Tesco said: 'We’ve more than doubled the number of online slots to 1.5 million each week.

'This is to help anyone who’s unable to shop in‐store – especially our most vulnerable customers – so they can access our online service.

'Last week, we delivered more orders than ever before, and we’ll continue to increase the number of online slots available.'

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's has delivery slots available from £1 and it is free if you order over £100 worth of items. There is a hint demand is higher than usual as Sainsbury's is now not offering new delivery passes.

The supermarket is prioritising vulnerable customers but there are still next day slots available for everybody in many areas.

Asda

Asda has also blocked the sale of delivery passes and says some items may be restricted for sale online if demand increases.
